History

Mantos Copper is a copper mining company that was established in Chile in September 2015, when it acquired the Mantos Blancos and Mantoverde.

Mantos Blancos is located in the Antofagasta Region, 45 kilometers northwest of the region's capital and 800 meters above sea level. It was one of the first private copper mines in Chile, dating back to 1960, and was an important company in the history and development of the Antofagasta Region.

Mantos Blancos is an open pit mine extracting both sulphide and oxide copper ores, which are treated in crushing, milling, concentrator, leaching, solvent extraction and electro-winning plants, producing copper concentrates and high purity (LME Grade A) copper cathodes.

Mantoverde is located 50 kilometers inland from the port of Chañaral, in the Atacama Region. It is an open pit mine with a crusher plant, conveying and heap-stacking system; heap leaching and a solvent extraction and electro-winning plant, producing high purity (LME Grade A) copper cathodes.

It also has a seawater desalination plant, which enables us to supply water for all of our production processes.

Our investors are Audley Mining Advisors Limited, a special purpose vehicle established in Guernsey by the founders of Mantos Copper, and Orion Mine Finance LLP, a mining-focussed investment fund  of US$1.86 billion based in New York
